Belize - 10 Days
Belize City ~ Rendezvous Cay ~ Turneffe Atoll ~ Lighthouse Reef Atoll ~ Glovers Reef Atoll ~ Queens Cay ~ Laughing Bird ~ Sapodilla Cay ~ Monkey River ~ Placencia ~ Middle Ground Range
|
Bordering Mexico, Guatemala and the Caribbean Sea, Belize is a paradise for those who love nature, scuba diving, fishing and culture. For thousands of years Belize was part of the Mayan Civilisation and then was subsequently invaded by both the Spanish and British. Consequently the country is also a treasure trove of history and culture. As the commercial capital of the country ,Belize City makes a perfect spot to join your yacht and head out immediately to Rendezvous Cay where you can get into the swing of things relaxing under a coconut palm, or swimming and enjoying the yachts watersports toys in the blue waters. Back on board, while you relax, your crew can prepare a tropical beach barbecue where you can eat bare foot in the sand under the stars. Belize is full of pristine natural beauty and this is seen in the three spectacular atolls; Turnerre, Lighthouse Reef and Glovers Reef. An atoll is an island made of coral, and the marine life and scuba diving are world renowned. |
Turneffe Atoll is the largest of the three at 30 miles long, and is populated with numerous mangrove cays. The southern end of the atoll is known for the exceptional fishing and diving, where you can expect to see sharks, big groupers, eagle rays and sea turtles.
Lighthouse Reef Atoll is home to the Great Blue Hole, one of the largest sink holes in the world and a ‘bucket list’ destination for any keen scuba diver. Amongst the mangrove cays you will find a lagoon where you can also find crocodiles and egrets, so take a tour with the yachts' tender and explore both above and below the surface. This atoll is also a great nesting site for sea turtles and it goes without saying that snorkeling and fishing are also key activities to enjoy here. At Half Moon Cay you can jump ashore and observe the colony of red footed booby birds that have made their home here.
Glovers Reef Atoll is part of the UNESCO World Heritage list and is a stretch of coral islands surrounding a shallow lagoon with white sandy cays and lush foliage.
Belize Barrier Reef is second in size to the Great Barrier Reef of Australia and stretches over 290km along the Caribbean coast of Belize. In the central region of this reef you can visit Queens Cay, one of the most beautiful islands in Belize. Palm trees sway over white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. The snorkeling and diving are incredible and also protected, so a guide is needed for those activities and no jet skiing is permitted. However, with over 80 species of fish, walls, grottos and canyons you will experience some of the best diving in the world.
Nearby at Laughing Bird Cay, here you can experience exceptional snorkeling and a known corridor for migrating whale sharks. After all the underwater exploration return to the yacht to relax on deck with a glass of champagne or a relaxing spa treatment.
Sapodilla Cay is the southernmost cay on the Belize Barrier Reef and a perfect day time anchorage. Here is more pristine snorkeling, fishing and swimming then dine on local fresh fish prepared to your taste by your private chef.
Continuing south anchor at the mouth of Monkey River, one of the country's major rivers. With a local guide take the yachts tender, and embark on an exploration of the flora and fauna, home to many different species including ocelot, jaguar, bare-throated tiger heron, crocodiles and manatees.
Journeying on to Placencia, a charming town on a gorgeous emerald peninsula with 16 miles of sandy beaches. Have lunch at Francis Ford Copolla’s Five Star Resort, Turtle Inn Restaurant, and then explore Placencia. Enjoy a cultural evening ashore watching the Garifuna Dancers and drummers or, have your crew arrange for a private show onboard.
For those looking to explore the ancient cultural heritage of Belize, a day trip to Tikal can be arranged by small plane. This is the second largest Mayan site in the world with towering temples and ruins.
Back to nature, you can swim with dolphins in Middle Ground Range to complete a magical adventure.

French Polynesia- 7 Days
Tahiti, Papeete ~ Moorea ~ Huahine ~ Taha'a ~ Raiata ~ Bora Bora
|
From the moment you arrive in French Polynesia you will feel like you are entering a new world, as you are greeted by locals with fragrant tiare blossom and adorned with a lei of orchards as is the custom. The largest and most vibrant of the Polynesian islands, Tahiti is awash with culture music and dance which you can enjoy ashore, or bring onboard for a private show. Visit the local markets to find colourful sarongs, beautiful engraved ukuleles and flowers galore. The interior of the island is largely untouched, with mountains, valleys and waterfalls for some serious hiking. On the southwestern coast of the island you will find the famous surf break, Teahupoʻo, where you can watch the pro’s surfing waves as high as 7m or taller. Only 15 miles to the west of Tahiti you will find the more tranquil island of Moorea, a triangular shaped island circling a calm aquamarine lagoon. Here you can enjoy the many water sport toys on offer on your yacht, or dive with reef and lemon sharks. Take the tender to a spot known by locals and swim with wild stingrays, take a tin of tuna if you want to really get up close with them! Ashore you can rent buggies to explore the island, stopping in local shacks for the renowned fresh ceviche. |
Further to the north east is the island of Huahine, one of the most picturesque and geographically diverse islands with lush topical jungle and long white sandy beaches. Tour the island in 4x4 buggies and see the many religious sites where you will find carved wooden faces on raised stone alters to represent gods.
One of the main sources of income to these islands are vanilla plantations, and on the unspoilt island of Taha’a they produce 70-80% of all French Polynesia’s vanilla. Visit the vanilla plantations, where you will see many vanilla vines growing up trees and trays of vanilla pods drying out in the sun. This is also an excellent island to visit the infamous black pearl farms, where you can buy pearls and have them designed into bespoke jewellery.
Another less visited island is Raiata, where you can visit the Marae of Taputapuatea. A Marae is a holy site and at Taputapuatea you will see many stone structures, as it was once considered the central temple and religious center of Eastern Polynesia.
Arriving in Bora Bora you will find a heady mix of high end luxury and nature at its finest. Snorkel amongst turtles, eagle rays, giant clams and multicoloured coral. Take a bag of breadcrumbs with you and get mobbed by shoals of fish. Explore the history of World War II, where the US military chose Bora Bora as a military South Pacific base, then relax ashore with a tropical cocktail under the stars on what has been dubbed ‘the most romantic island in the world’.
