COMBINING WORKING IN THE LUXURY SUPERYACHT INDUSTRY WITH PHILANTHROPY, ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY

I am proud to be one of 300 women volunteering to take part in the eXXpedition Round the World sailing program.
The program is an all-female sailing voyage and research mission covering over 38,000 nautical miles and 30 voyage legs, with 10 women onboard for each leg. On board S.V. TravelEdge, eXXpedition crews will study plastics and toxics in our ocean, via four of the five oceanic gyres and the Arctic. We will carry out research at sea and on land to advance a better understanding of the plastics issue as a whole, and work with industries to pinpoint solutions and policy at a global level by addressing knowledge-gaps and delivering evidence to inform effective solutions. I myself will be joining the boat in Fiji at the end of May and sailing to Vanuatu, undertaking land community projects and scientific data collection and analysis at sea. I will be updating my social media and blog when I can to keep everyone updated with our progress on eXXpedition Round the World. |
Making the unseen seen,All-female expedition investigates ocean plastic pollution causes and solutions...
Founded in 2014 by avid sailors Emily Penn and Lucy Gilliam, eXXpedition is a Community Interest Company and not-for-profit organisation that runs pioneering all-female sailing research expeditions to investigate the causes of, and solutions to, ocean plastic pollution. |
My aim is to connect my philanthropic work with the Superyacht industry, to gain support and exposure for the valuable work people are doing out there to protect and rescue our oceans from the plastic pollution and toxins we have contaminated them with. With any success I gain in my career I will pledge to work with philanthropic and conservation charities to give back.
